Biomineralogy
Headed by Professor Pasteris, this research group applies Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, and electron microscopy and microprobe analysis to determine the size, shape, mechanical properties, and composition of biological apatite (a calcium phosphate mineral) and its synthetic analogs.
