Ira Flatow in conversation with Climatologists Bronwen Konecky and Gavin Schmidt

A conversation on climate change begins with a panel of climatologists discussing how the study of past and present climate conditions can aid in development of strategies to protect Earth.

Ira Flatow is the popular anchor of NPR's Science Friday will serve as moderator. For over 40 years, this veteran journalist and author has demonstrated adeptness for making scientific concepts and processes engaging and accessible.

Bronwen Konecky is currently a paleoclimatologist at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and takes the long view of climate change, studying historic changes in tropical climate and ecosystems, from the geologic past to the 21st Century. She will be joining the Washington University's Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences in January 2018.

Gavin Schmidt studies past and present climate drivers to develop viable scenarios of a future Earth. He is a climate scientist who directs the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, and is an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University's Earth Institute.
