EARTH, ENVIRONMENTAL & PLANETARY SCIENCE 5883

This course will introduce fundamental geospaLal concepts, tools, and analyses through hands-on exercises and assignments. The course will focus on common applications of geographic information systems (GIS) in the earth sciences to illustrate core geospaLal concepts, provide exposure to key data types and analysis tools, and to build proficiency with industry standard GIS software. Class meetings will feature lectures, article discussions, and hands-on exercises to demonstrate common workflows for obtaining, creating, or editing geospatial datasets and using them to perform spatial analysis and create effective map products. Students may not take both EnSt 380 and EEPS 3883 for credit.
